Angela Edwards Jones

President, Manager, Funeral Director

Hello! I want to personally welcome you to our website, and I wish to make you familiar and comfortable with our staff and me.

Being the older daughter of James and Josephine, I was reared “in the business”. Also for most of my early childhood, we lived in the upstairs apartment in this beautiful classic architectural Colonial Revival home that is Edwards Funeral Home. My fond memories are about my childhood home and about our neighborhood. (Some of our neighbors continue to live in this historic neighborhood and are as “neighborly” as ever.) Though the firm is modern in all of the ways that are important to the funeral business, our “home” and the décor provide a very comfortable setting and atmosphere for our families to make plans for the final tribute of a loved one or to establish a preneed and make future arrangements.

Growing up in Wilson, I attended the public schools; attended an HBCU, and completed my studies in Psychology. Later, I completed course requirements for my certification as a Funeral Director. Though proud of both of my professions, and particularly as a second generation Funeral Director, I am honored to carry on the caring, the legacy, and the entrepreneurship of my parents and my uncle at Edwards Funeral Home.

On a personal note, I enjoy family, friends, reading, writing, cooking, and traveling (domestically and internationally). I am active in my church, and I am a participating member of several local civic, social, and service organizations.

Professionally, I am a member of EDFD & MA of NC, Inc., FD & MA of NC, Inc., NFDMA, Inc., APA, and ASALH. I was the 2015 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award given by the Eastern District Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of North Carolina.

I am a stepmother, grandmother of five, and a Godmother.

Our staff is always at your service!

Being the younger daughter of James and Josephine, I also grew up “in the business”. It has always been a part of my life. Growing up in East Wilson, I attended the area elementary, middle and high schools. After graduating from Fike High School, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a very proud graduate of Carolina and love my Tar Heels!!

Being caring, honest and courteous are some of the lessons that I learned, not only from my parents but from my "village". Treating you with dignity, respect and professionalism are my highest priority. I am here for you when you need us the most. It is my honor to serve you now and in years to come.
