Thelma R. Delaney Johnson,82,of 1402 Carolina Street died September 19, 2012 at her residence. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at L.N. Forbes OFWB Tabernacle 1800 Lane Street Wilson, NC at 1 pm with Dr.T. Janel Dixon and Dr. Tyrone P. Jones III officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 2-8 pm at Edwards Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm. All remarks are requested to be made at the wake as no remarks will be allowed at the funeral service. Mrs. Johnson was an RN for over 35 years and worked for Wilson Memorial Hospital during her nursing career. "Ray" as she was affecionately called by family and friends was an avid supporter of Women's rights and championed her support of the poor through many civic and fraternal involvements. She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Coleman (Donald) of Baltimore, MD.; two sons, Gerald "Skip" Raynor of Baltomore, MD and Angelo Melton of Wilson, NC; several grandchildren including Rodney "Boo" Dancy, who was her caregiver;one brother James "Buck" Delaney (Phyllis) of Baltimore,MD,one sister-in law, Mary Francais Jones. other relatives and many friends.
