Life and Legacy
Of
Roscoe Braswell
Roscoe Braswell was called from labor to rest on November 3, 2020 at Vidant In-Patient Hospice House in Greenville, NC. He was born on July 16, 1952 and the 10 th child of the late Lonnie and Martha Beulah Dempsey Braswell.
While living in the St. Paul Community of Rocky Mount, he was baptized and joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.
Roscoe attended the schools of Nash and Edgecombe Counties. He was a 1970 graduate of Northern Nash High School. In 1974, he graduated from North Carolina Central University with a BS in Business Administration.
After graduating from NCCU, this Eagle soared to Georgia where he joined the Georgia Insurance Company of Atlanta, GA. He served as a trainer for their new automated accounting system. Roscoe was responsible for training district managers and their staff as well as sales personnel in adjusting to the new accounting system.
Roscoe was a gentle soul who loved his family, especially his nephews and nieces. Roscoe was "uniquely Roscoe" who was dearly loved by his family and cousins. At family reunions, you would see him mingling with his cousins and sharing his goodies. When the music would start, he would get on the dance floor and his moves would be as smooth as Barry White's baritone voice.
We mourn not for his death, but our lives without him. Roscoe leaves to cherish his memories: siblings, William M. Braswell, Sr (Patricia) of Mitchellville, MD, Madilene B. Hargrove of Rocky Mount, NC, Patricia B. Thompson (John) of Irvington, NJ, Evelyn B. Alston of Rocky Mount, NC, Beulah B. Braswell of Richmond, NC and Irma B. Purvis (Elbert) of Elm City, NC.; 14 nephews, 5 nieces, countless great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephew, Messiah Quinton Mann.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Elmas Cornell, James Hilliard; sisters, Vivian B. Arrington and Mary Elizabeth Mann.
