Powell "Pete" Speight, 56, of 950 Appie Rd, Walstonburg, NC died September 12, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC. He is the son of the late John and Rebecca Speight of Walstonburg,NC. The funeral will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1 pm at L.N. Forbes OFW Baptist Tabernacle 1800 Lane Street Wilson, NC. Interment will folow in St. Delight Cemetery, Walstonburg, NC. Surviviors include his loving wife, Eloris (Dannette) of Ashburn, Va.; Mother-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Abrams (Earl) of New Castle, DE. grandmother, Mrs. Minerva Evans of Walstonburg,NC; two daughters, Danielle Speight OF Ashburn,Va. and Michelle Diggins of Alexandra, Va.; one son,Damien Speight of Ashburn,Va; two grandchildren, Timye and Quinntez Diggins of Alexandra, Va.; four brothers, Johnny Speight (Shirley) of Wilson, NC, Charles Speight of Manassas, Va., Leon Speight (Carolyn) of Stantonsburg, NC., and Kenneth Ward (Erica) of Stantonsburg, NC; seven sisters, Janice Speight and Patricia Moore both of Wilson, NC,Doris Connor (William) of Walstonburg, NC., Lonice Barnes of Greensboro, NC., Jennifer Dawson of Chesterfield, VA,.Tarrie Ward of Stantonsburg, NC., and Ernestine Edwards (Ross) of Landover, MD; four sisters-in-law, P. Dianne Armstrong of West Chester, OH., Jacqueline Jones ( Michael) of Kalamazoo, MI.,Denise Lewis (Haston) of Frisco, TX., and Darlene Sharpe of New Castle, DE; six aunts;two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Public viewing will be held on Friday September 17, 2010 from 2 to 5 pm at Edwards Funeral Home with the family recieving friends from 7 to 8 pm at Pauls Chapel Church, Walstonburg, NC and at other times at the home of Doris and William Connor 950 Appie Rd.
