Mrs. Iris Joyner Hairston, 68 of Staten Island, New York and formerly of Elm City, died on Sunday, December 30 , 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital in New York. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 317 Beauvue Road, Elm City, NC with Rev. Herbert Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the William Chapel Cemetery, William Chapel Church Road, Elm City, NC. Public viewing will be on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the wake from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family will assemble at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the "home house" for the processional to the church.
